There’s always a lot of buzz around the word ‘productivity’! But productivity is so much more than just accomplishing things.

So grab a cup of coffee and let’s chat about what productivity really means, and the role your business mentor or business strategist plays in getting you there.

Productivity Is So Much More Than Getting Things Done

You know those business owners you see online? You know the ones…

Their content is polished, they never miss an opportunity to say the right thing, they send out weekly emails, their process seems flawless, and they post about cooking dinner for their kids every night.

You’ve probably been tempted to comment, “I need your productivity tips, stat!” on one of their perfectly curated photos, right?

But productivity is a lot more than getting stuff done. In fact, true productivity looks a lot different than Instagram-worthy businesses would have you know.

4 Signs Of True Productivity

1. You’re Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Spoiler alert… productivity doesn’t happen in your nice and cozy comfort zone. In fact, true productivity almost always takes you outside of where you’ve been operating.

The truth is, tasks that make you uncomfortable are often the tasks that will push your business into momentum, such as real-life networking or presenting to your local Chamber of Commerce.

Performing these tasks will get easier with practice and allow you to develop real-life relationships with other businesses (yay!)

Don’t believe me? Just ask that coach you look up to how they felt on their first Facebook live. Or what they thought before the first time they stepped out on stage. I pinky promise they weren’t comfortable.

2. You’re Being Corrected

I don’t know about you, but I like to be right. But we don’t always have all the answers, and your coach will let you know that… on their way to making you uber-productive.

Being open to doing things a new way and adopting different processes will propel your business forward and lead to true productivity.

Plus, it’s a great sign that your business mentor or business strategist cares enough to speak up if they see a misstep!

3. You Start To Run More Smoothly

This may sound obvious, but a lot of businesses allow way too much time for the “transitional” phase and excuse away the fact that their business isn’t running more smoothly… even though they’re focusing on productivity.

If you’re experiencing a true increase in productivity, you’ll start to notice things running much smoother soon. Of course, there are always growing pains, but inviting an objective pair of eyes (your business mentor or business strategist) into your business will inevitably lead to your business running how it should.

Whether it means automating certain aspects or hiring a virtual assistant to handle certain tasks, when your business runs effectively, customers are happy and you’ll keep your overhead costs down. That’s a win-win. 🙂

4. Ideas Become Reality

The last sign of true productivity? This is the fun part… you’re able to bring your ideas to life!

When you have a system and process that supports your business and ideas, you’re able to take something from inception to reality much quicker.

Of course, that’s not to say you won’t hit roadblocks, but they will likely be external and solved by the process your OBM has implemented.

Smart business owners know they can’t know everything about every subject (can you say exhausting?). That’s where a business mentor or business strategist can step in to implement processes that support growing businesses.
